Web 2.0 my thoughts

Overall these web 2.0 activities are informative and some are very useful and could be used in a library setting such as Google docs, bloging and RSS feeds others I don’t see any practical use in a library setting such as twitter. But overall this was informative.

Google Docs: The End of Microsoft Office?

Google docs is A great program and I see how easy it could be to collaborate on things with a group of people. I like the fact that you can use all of the same office like programs for free.

What's a Wiki?

The wiki I looked at was the PALS wiki. Wikis are great for having all the information you need on a specific subject in one spot. we could use this to possibly develop a frequently asked questions for patrons to in form them about a range of things about the library in general such as rules and regulations how to get a library card and the history of our library.

Finding new feeds

Syndic8.com was the RSS feed finder I thought was the easiest to use I found a lot of useful sports and news feeds with this site and what is really interesting is it had feeds in different languages. Another way I used to find RSS feeds was going to some of my favorite sites such as ESPN and looking for a RSS symbol.

Discovering feeds on our catalog and website

I think the patrons who know what these new technologies do will benefit greatly but we should make an effort to educate the patrons who may not be familiar with the new technologies such as RSS feeds. I think if used properly these new technologies will help patrons receive notice of new news and events in one spot saving time and making there use of the libraries new web site more efficient.

Suffolk Wave

I downloaded Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. The process was not smooth at all I don’t like Suffolk Wave Because of its DRM (Digital Rights Management) schemes make the site not very user friendly plus I feel the borrowing period is to short.
